Everyone’s palate is different. Having a stronger flavor than beef, the closest meat in taste is probably grass-fed lamb. We were surprised when we made some rosemary-rubbed rib and loin chops that the meat tasted like a cross between beef and pork.
We are NOT certified organic; however, our animals are rotationally grazed on fresh, untreated pasture daily (or high-quality 2nd cutting hay in winter).
Our chickens face a lot of potential predators on our property: hawks, coyotes, racoons, possums, etc. (everything loves chicken). Because of this, we raise our birds in chicken tractors: open-air, mobile coops that are moved daily to fresh grass. The birds thrive on a diet of bugs, clean grass, and a locally milled, supplemental feed while being protected- a win-win.

Our goats are currently grazing on pasture, with an occasional treat that makes them easier to handle. Our meat chickens are fed an all natural, locally milled feed in addition to their grazing.
We do not. Our goats are strictly raised for meat, but if you’re local, check out Stewarts Family Farm.
We currently only have egg-laying hens to provide for our family. If you’re local, check out 2nd Bite Farm.

“My sister bought me chicken breast from the Poes. I don’t think I ever had such refreshing chicken. The taste was so good, I marveled at how good it was! It wasn’t dry, and I just felt a treat was given to me! When I buy it at the store, it’s never that tasty or fresh!”

“The goat meat is so tender and very fresh. It turned out very very tasty when we cooked the meat in both Indian and African styles with our brothers and sisters. Absolutely loved the meat!!!”
Omni G.
“Our first time eating goat meat was amazing! It has rich flavor and tender texture – adding delicious flavor variety from beef or pork without being “gamey.” We are looking forward to adding Buckwheat Hollow goat to our regular rotation!”
